free fotolab is an ongoing archive started in 2004 comprising anonymous private images from cities in different countries. The images are collected through a public call for rolls of undeveloped 35mm film. Photographs are processed and printed for free with the agreement that the artist may select, retain and present any of the images. free fotolab constructs a collective family album of pictures which – notwithstanding differences in their technical expertise, visual style and content – convey a rare sense of intimacy.
